Social communication and awareness raising programs in Gelesefid Village – Fall 2009 Print E-mail
In cooperation with Foojan-e Sabz environmental NGO, Conservation of Biodiversity in the Central Zagros Landscape Conservation Zone Project held various social communication and awareness raising programs during fall 2009 in Gelesefid Village.
Programs such as storytelling, plays, movies, paintings, wall-newspapers, local songs, and educational classes and workshops were held for children and adolescents aiming to familiarize them with environmental problems of the region and motivating them to conserve biodiversity.
Furthermore, in order to inform adults and encourage them to cooperate in conservation of environment in the region, activities such as holding a meeting with teachers of the village, Women and Environmental Hygiene Program, and identifying environmental activists of the village were held.
In these programs which were warmly welcomed by the villagers, issues such as respecting environment, environmental problems of the region, teachings and recommendations of Islam about conservation of environment, personal sacrifice and environment conservation, the role of women in conserving environmental hygiene, proper waste disposal, energy saving solutions, familiarity with species of the region, conservation of animal habitats, importance of water and soil, significance of forests and global warming due to destruction of jungles were plainly explained.
