Over an area of 2,500,000 hectares, Conservation of Biodiversity in the Central Zagros Landscape Conservation Zone Project aims to mainstream biodiversity conservation and sustainable use into agriculture, forestry, rangelands, water and tourism sectors.

 

Financed by the Islamic Republic of Iran's Department of Environment and international organizations such as United Nation’s Development Programme (UNDP) and Global Environment Facility (GEF), the Zagros Project attempts to develop new approaches to biodiversity resource management that would: respect local communities, facilitate socio-economic development, and lead to effective biodiversity restoration and conservation.   read more ...

Third Project Steering Committee Meeting- December 30, 2009
The third Project Steering Committee meeting of the Conservation of Biodiversity in the Central Zagros Landscape Conservation Zone Project was held on December 30, 2009 in the conference hall of Iran’s Department of Environment, Deputy Directorate for Natural Environment and Biodiversity. The meeting chaired by Mrs. Shirin Abolghasemi- Advisor to the Deputy Head, was attended by representatives of stakeholder ministries and organizations.
